Something I love about the time of this year is that it is not only a time of celebration with family and friends, but it also a time of reflection of the year that is closing out.  The year of 2017 has been an amazing year.  There have been new beginnings, new friendships and lots of growth.  I have also seen some endings, which in the big scheme of things I believe are part of life.  The hardest ending was having my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter move from Huntington Beach to Nantucket, Massachusetts.  That was a big adjustment as I loved having family close.  But even with that change, I travelled to Nantucket this year, a place I had never been and it was wonderful to experience and see the kids.  Life constantly is changing as hopefully we are too.

Last year on New Years Eve, I decided to spend it watching the sunset in Laguna Beach, thinking about the year that was closing and my dreams and hopes for the new year.  Somehow being near the water seemed to make it easy to let go of what was necessary to do so, thereby creating the room for new ideas and goals I had for myself.   Two of the goals I had set were to keep a journal for a whole year and to start my home design business, which I have done both.  I also had set other goals, which I constantly worked on and accomplished.  In many ways, when you set goals for yourself, you are in a sense designing your life and how you want it to be.  You are creating for yourself.

As this year comes to a close, I will once again go watch the sunset in Laguna Beach and prepare for 2018.  Every new year feels like a blank slate from which to create on.  It is never too late to start something new and it’s always a good time to challenge yourself.  Have those big dreams for yourself and be fearless in the creation of them.  Remember, everything starts with one small step in the right direction.   Keep focused on what you want to create and go for it!!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and dream big!

Love,
